What i am doing now? (tell us what you are currently doing now...next race, project...)
Attending various track events to continue getting seat time, coaching/instructing. Improving my skills in drifting. And, I started a new blog on July 6, 2009: http://365drive.blogspot.com. The goal of the blog is to drive a different car/vehicle everyday for a year!
Lea Croteau (aka Bartlett) has been auto racing since 1995 and a driving instructor since 1993. As a rookie racer in 1995, she finished her season as the Mid-Atlantic Road Racing Championship Runner-Up, with 4 podium finishes in six races. Switching to national level competition in 1996, her success continued within the SCCA, resulting in over 20 top five finishes with 10 on the podium over the next three years. As a top ten finisher in the Northeast Division each year, she also competed in the SCCA Valvoline Championship Runoffs. Between 1997 and 2000, Lea also was a regular contender in the Neon Challenge ProRacing Series. In 1999, Lea finished 5th in the championship – her best ever.
In 1999 and 2001, Lea joined the Motion Dynamics and KML Racing to compete in a Spec Racer Ford in the 24 Hours at Moroso Longest Night. The six woman team ran as high as third in class in the 1999 race, while the two woman/two man team finished the 2001 race 5th in class and 13th overall. 2001 continued with Lea racing in the SCCA national series in the SRF Class with the Motion Dynamics/KML team. At season end, her rank was a respectable 11th place of 70 plus drivers competing in the Northeast Division. One highlight of her season was a top ten finish at Watkins Glen in her first SRF ProRacing series event. 2007 saw Lea reunite with KML Racing to compete in the 24 Hours of Lemons as part of a six driver team at Altamont Speedway in California. Their ‘Lemon,’ a ’91 Toyota Camry, was expertly driven for over 350 laps through a number of mechanical handicaps – a delicate clutch, a damaged cooling system, and a loss of front brakes. Lea also joined KML Racing for the 25th One Lap of America and raced with Mike Roberts in his Honda Civic Si in the Econo Class. They finished 2nd!
During her racing career, Lea was also a select member of the CART Champ Car PPG Pace Car Team for three years. The team consisted of top women racers driving highly modified performance cars to pace a variety of racing series: CART, Indy Lights, Toyota Atlantic, Trans Am and USAC in the United States and abroad. In addition to being a Pace Car Driver, Lea continues to be among the top-ranking female driving instructor and automotive consultant in the country. Most of her time is spent demonstrating new products to consumers, sales professionals and the media. Watch out though, she also is qualified in tactical vehicle interception.
